NRC to host conference on spent fuel management regulation

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) will host The Division of Spent Fuel Management Regulatory Conference 2015, discussing issues relating to the management of spent nuclear fuel, at its North Bethesda, Maryland, headquarters Nov. 18-19.

NRC staff will be available to speak and network with industry representatives and stakeholders to discuss technical and regulatory issues regarding the transportation of radioactive material and spent fuel storage.

NRC Chairman Stephen Burns will give the keynote address. Also making remarks will be Catherine Haney, the director of the NRC’s Office of Nuclear Material Safety and Safeguards, and Mark Lombard and Anthony Hsia, the director and deputy director of the Division of Spent Fuel Management, respectively. 

The conference will run from 8:15 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 18, and from 7:45 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 19, in the Three White Flint North of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission’s headquarters, Rooms 1C3 and 1C5, 11601 Landsdown Road.
