The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) recently named Christopher Roettgen as the new resident inspector at Exelon Corp.’s Calvert Cliffs nuclear plant in Lusby, Maryland.
Roettgen joined the Region I office in February 2014 as a project engineer in the Division of Reactor Projects. Before joining the agency, he was as a submarine officer in the U.S. Navy for 10 years. Roettgen earned a bachelor’s degree in physics from the U.S. Naval Academy and a master’s in applied physics from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County.
“Roettgen’s experience, technical expertise and training will assist the NRC in carrying out its mission to protect people and the environment by ensuring the safe operation of the Calvert Cliffs units,” NRC Region I Administrator Dan Dorman said.
Each U.S. commercial nuclear power plant site has at least two NRC resident inspectors. Roettgen joins Senior Resident Inspector Rodney Clagg at Calvert Cliffs.
