The Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) announced on Friday that a route for the Muddy Creek to Ord Transmission Line Project has been finalized and the project will begin its right of entry phase.

Those residents along the finalized route will be contacted by a representative from NPPD regarding the project and will schedule personal meetings with residents to explain all details relating to the project and right to entry. This will give landowners the ability to raise questions and concerns and to provide any pertinent property information. The right to entry agreement that residents will be asked to sign will allow NPPD staff to conduct assessments relating to environmental services, cultural and historical resources and structural spotting.

The route was finalized with feedback from landowners in the area.

“I’d like to thank the landowners for their feedback during the public involvement process,” Senior Project Manager Mike Hasenkamp said. “We had excellent participation from landowners whether in person, by phone or via written communications. By letting us know of any future plans for their land or any special circumstances, we were able to make better, informed decisions. Our goal throughout this project was to find the most suitable line route and substation site with the least overall impact to landowners. We believe the process has resulted in identification of a good route.”

The transmission line consists of 115,000 volts and will connect a new substation, Muddy Creek, to an existing substation near Ord.
