EnergySolutions announced Sunday that it will acquire MHF Services, a packaging, transportation and logistics supplier for radioactive, hazardous and nonhazardous materials.

The integrated company’s transportation services include rail, truck, marine and a nationwide network of transload facilities.

“MHF is a seasoned organization with strong capabilities that complement the services we provide our customers,” EnergySolutions CEO and President David Lockwood said. “Acquiring MHF strengthens our ability to provide our customers a complete range of logistics and disposal services more cost-effectively.”

Headquartered in Pittsburgh, MHF has the largest independent fleet of highly specialized rail equipment, four transload facilities, a container manufacturing facility, and a record of compliance and reliability. In operation since 1994, MHF has a 20-year history of strong operations without any major incidents.

“I want to personally thank every MHF employee for their commitment to safety and incredible work which has made MHF what it is today,” MHF CEO Bob Shawver said. “The combination of MHF and EnergySolutions will provide a strong platform for the continued growth of our business.”

MHF has relocated over 20 million tons of hazardous, radioactive and non-hazardous material and has won the CSX Chemical Safety Excellence Award every year since 2009.
