JSC Rusatom to manage Tianwan nuclear plant Unit 1 outage operations

China’s Tianwan nuclear power station disconnected its No. 1 Unit from the network for a scheduled overhaul outage, which will take place over the course of 53 days, with JSC Rusatom Service in charge of the overhaul operations.

Jiangsu Nuclear Power Corporation operates the Tianwan nuclear power station and has a contract with Rusatom for technical support through 2017. During this overhaul, Rusatom is responsible for chief supervision of the unit’s systems and equipment repairs, and will work on the first circuit collectors of the unit’s steam generator, upgrading the seal assemblies of its flange connectors and help the unit transition to a new fuel, TVS-2M, by supporting the adjustment of the Protective Tube Unit position. Rusatom also will repair pumping equipment and monitor the turbine rotor, amongs other services.

A total of 15 Russian groups will be involved in the unit’s outage operations, including OJSC Concern Rosenrgoatom, OJSC OKB GIDROPRESS, JSC CDBMB, OJSC Power Machines and RNC Kurchatov Institute, among others.

Following the signing of the implementation agreement for the $300 million Independent Power Project in January 2020, and under the patronage of the Ministry of Energy in Saudi Arabia, ACWA Power today executed the official agreements for the 240 MW wind power project that will be located in the Absheron and Khizi regions.
