The U.S. House Energy and Commerce Committee will hold a markup meeting on the North American Energy Security Act of 2015 (NAES) on Tuesday at 4 p.m. EDT in Room 2123 of the Rayburn House Office Building in Washington.

“It is our responsibility in Congress to advance the priorities of the American people,”U.S. Rep. Fred Upton (R-MI), the committee’s chairman, said. “We will take an important step in the effort to turn the page on the laws written during the days of energy scarcity, moving forward to embrace our energy abundance with policies that say ‘yes’ to energy.”

The bill aims to capitalize on what is considered to be an abundance of energy generated in the U.S. currently and to modernize the national energy infrastructure. It would account for related areas, including energy security and diplomacy.

“We will continue working on solutions that live up to the expectations and priorities of the American people, help create jobs, keep energy affordable and improve our energy security,” Upton said.

Tuesday’s meeting will consist of opening statements from committee members, and the committee will reconvene on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. EDT for further deliberation.
