GE Hitachi (GEH) said this week that it has been selected to provide outage services to the Perry Nuclear Power Plant in Perry, Ohio, through 2021.

“Innovative technologies like Stinger, a remotely operated in-vessel visual inspection tool, and our unique remote uncoupling solution … save time, enabling customers to get their plants back online sooner,” Lance Hall, executive vice president of GEH’s Nuclear Fuels and Services unit, said. “We look forward to offering these tools, project management expertise, technical rigor and highly skilled, experienced personnel to help FirstEnergy meet its outage and plant-performance goals.”

GEH will provide refueling, control rod mechanism services, as well as other under-vessel services at the plant. Over the course of the agreement, the company will perform three outages.

The plant houses one nuclear reactor that can generate approximately 2,268 megawatts of electricity.

The company recently completed its first outage service for a pressurized water reactor at the R.E. Ginna Nuclear Plant in Ontario, New York.

GEH specializes in building nuclear reactors and performing plant services, including outage management and refueling.
