Nuclear power’s role in America’s evolving energy blend will be one of the topics discussed at the “Future of Energy Summit,” host Bloomberg BNA announced yesterday.

Underwritten by Nuclear Matters, the series is focused on the future of nuclear energy. It will be kicked off with a conversation on nuclear energy April 14 at the Grand Hyatt New York. The meeting will bring together federal and state policymakers, business leaders, media members, activists, academic experts and industry stakeholders.

“The existing U.S. nuclear fleet faces significant uncertainty today as it is subject to a perfect storm of economic and policy challenges brought on by the unintended consequences of market structure and government policies,”

session moderator

Chris Gadomski said. “These events will feature an engaging discussion with corporate leaders, policymakers, and non-governmental organizations to explore the multitude of pressing issues impacting the industry.”

Former Sen. Judd Gregg (R-NH), co-chair of Nuclear Matters, praised Bloomberg BNA for creating an opportunity to spread the word on the benefits of — and challenges faced by — nuclear plants in the U.S.

“These forums will be important venues in which we will engage stakeholders around the country to discuss how to solve for these challenges, with the ultimate goal of ensuring that existing nuclear energy plants are preserved,” he said.
