Fluor Corp. said this week that it has been awarded a five-year, $1.4 billion contract from the Department of Energy (DOE) for services related to the Idaho Cleanup Project (ICP).
The work at the ICP will be completed by Fluor Idaho LLC, a Fluor Corp. subsidiary, and will be focused on the disposition of transuranic waste, radioactive waste processing and spent nuclear-fuel storage. The company also will aid in the consolidation of contracts tied to the ICP and Advanced Mixed Waste Treatment Project
“We are very pleased that DOE has selected us to support the ICP Core Contract,” Bruce Stanski, president of Fluor’s Government Group, said. “We have a legacy in Idaho where we have worked on some of the most innovative nuclear facilities, including the Materials Test Reactor, the Advanced Test Reactor and the New Waste Calcine Facility. We look forward to again being an integral part of the team helping DOE meet its mission at the Idaho site and building on the momentum that the incumbent employees have already created.”
The Idaho site is the focus of many national and state regulatory agreements and consisting of 890 square miles and housing the Idaho National Laboratory.
