Exelon Corp. announced Wednesday that it has been recognized in the Newsweek Green Rankings that catalogs the top

environmentally conscious

companies that have sustainable practices.

Exelon ranked at No. 61 out of 500 companies that are publicly traded in the U.S. Of those companies, only four utility companies ranked higher.

On the global list, the company ranked No. 105, up 11 spots from 2014 when they were No. 116. The rankings are determined by

Newsweek, Corporate Knights Capital and HIP Investor Inc. — both of which are independent research companies.

“Exelon has focused since its founding on being committed to operating in ways that minimize impacts to the environment,” Chris Gould, senior vice president and chief sustainability officer of Exelon, said. “A major part of our business involves helping customers make smarter use of energy and investing in new and existing sources of clean energy. The Newsweek Green Rankings are recognition of our continued commitment to sustainability.”

In the announcement, Exelon said the company plays a large role in developing and investing in renewable sources of energy. Their operations include wind, solar and nuclear energy production, and the company has been recognized in the Dow Jones Sustainability North America Index for nine years consecutively.
