Exelon Corp. recently named Nancy Gioia, a retired Ford Motor Co. executive, to its board of directors.

Gioia most recently served as director of global connectivity at Ford, having worked at the company for approximately 30 years. Gioia began her career at Ford as an electrical engineer, eventually heading up its electrification efforts on a global scale. This included technology and vehicle program development, as well as assessing the company’s impact in economic, environmental and social realms.

Gioia also worked with the Edison Electric Institute and the Energy Department while at Ford.

As an Exelon director, she will serve on the Finance, Risk and Generation Oversight Committee.

“Nancy brings a unique perspective to Exelon’s board of directors, and we are pleased to be working with her,” Chairman of the Board Mayo Shattuck said. “Her extensive background in innovation and product development will be a significant contribution to our business.”

While at Ford, Gioia was successful in utilizing analytics and other data to improve consumer experiences and other areas. Gioia currently holds a master’s degree in manufacturing systems engineering from Stanford and a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Michigan.
