Exelon Corp. announced Monday that it is listed on the
Dow Jones Sustainability Index for the 10th consecutive year.
Exelon said it saw improvements in the area of sustainability
with the addition of 215 megawatts of zero-emission generation through new
wind, solar and nuclear energy enhancements. The completion of the Antelope
Valley Solar Ranch in California and its $3.1 billion in utility infrastructure investments
are among the sustainability goals achieved in 2014.
“The Dow Jones Sustainability Index is one of the most
widely recognized and trusted indicators of companies’ sustainability
performance,” Exelon President and CEO Chris Crane said. “We are proud to
have been named to the index every year for the last decade. This validates our
consistent effort to run our businesses in a way that takes into account the
long-term needs of our customers, communities and employees.”
Exelon is among seven companies operating in the gas and
electric industries to make the list.
Exelon said that approximately 600
companies were considered for the list.
Across its generating fleet, Exelon has a electrical
generation capacity of approximately 32,000 megawatts. The company serves 48
states, the D.C. area and portions of Canada. The company reports that
employees logged approximately 113,000 hours in volunteer work.
