Entergy Corp. announced this past week that they will be supplying power to the Lake Charles LNG project in Louisiana.

According to Entergy CEO and Chairman Leo Denault, this agreement falls in line with the company’s growth strategy through investments into beneficial projects for its customers.

“This is a large project that is helping to fuel the economic success of the southwestern Louisiana Gulf Coast region — Entergy Louisiana is proud to be a part of that,” Phillip May, Entergy Louisiana president and CEO, said. “This is truly unprecedented growth and a real opportunity for our state to become leaders in LNG exportation.”

Through this agreement Entergy will be supplying approximately 255 megawatts of power to the Lake Charles project, operated by BG Group and Energy Transfer Equity, L.P., and Energy Transfers Partners, L.P. The BG Group is tasked with engineering, construction management and procurement selection for the project.

The announcement states that the project will bring construction and operational positions to the state. The project aims to export liquid natural gas through the liquefaction facility located at Lake Charles.

Entergy Louisiana provides electricity services to approximately one million customers and natural gas to approximately 93,000 customers to the Baton Rouge area and the state overall.
