The Entergy Charitable Foundation last week awarded $932,000 in grants toward education, poverty solutions and environmental programs.

Among the organizations that were awarded grant funding were the Louisiana Children’s Museum, Kids X-Press, Inc. and Reach for America of the Greater New Orleans area.

“All stakeholders — owners, customers, employees and communities — benefit from these programs,” Entergy Director of Corporate Social Responsibility Patty Riddlebarger said. “The funded initiatives promote a healthier, more educated and environmentally safe society.”

The American Red Cross also received a total of $200,000 from the foundation in areas serviced by the  company, including Texas and Mississippi, which recently received aid from the organization.

The Children’s Museum received $100,000 to be used to support an Early Learning Village,  which will include a nature center, an early care and learning center, a parent and teacher resource center, and a literacy center among other facilities.

The Lincoln Center in New York City was awarded $100,000 for its jazz programs and music education focusing on jazz music performance.

Teach for America received $150,000 for its work in helping 40 underserved schools in New Orleans.

Entergy grants are awarded annually. In 2014, shareholders donated approximately $15 million to local non-profit organizations as part of the grants.
