EDF Energy CEO Vincent de Rivaz and Humphrey Cadoux-Hudson, EDF’s new nuclear build managing director, testified this week at a “U.K. New Nuclear Status Update” session of the Energy and Climate Change Select Committee.

The EDF executives answered questions about the company’s investment interests in the planned Hinkley Point C nuclear plant project in Somerset.

EDF Energy and CGN signed a Strategic Investment Agreement last year centered around the development of the plant, in which they will collaborate on the station’s construction and operation, under a European Commission approved agreement. The project has gained the support of the French and British governments and is expected to provide 7 percent of the U.K.’s electricity needs.
