Duke Energy said this week that it has launched a website that contains expert advice, stories and insights on innovations, environmental concerns and other issues tied to the energy industry.
The goal of the website is to keep the general public informed about energy industry activity, as well as provide historical perspective on the industry.
The website, illumination.duke-energy.com, currently features old coal-fired power plants getting demolished in a video. There is also an article from a millennialist who talks about man-made lighting preventing people from seeing the stars at night.
In addition, the website includes a commentary from a couple living in North Carolina. Their goal is to preserve a village that was established next to a power plant in the 1940s and has since nearly vanished.
There are also articles about how Duke Energy is using innovative methods to prevent wind turbines from killing bats.
“We will provide customers with advice on how to save energy and money, insights into new trends and give them a behind-the-scenes view of the people who keep the lights on at the nation’s largest utility,” Selim Bingol, Duke Energy’s senior vice president and chief communications officer, said.
The company invites any and all media outlets to republish, with attribution, any content on the site, including stories, photos, videos and infographics.
