The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) announced this week that Gregory Croon has been appointed as the senior resident inspector at North Anna Nuclear Power Plant in Mineral, Virginia.

“Greg Croon has the background and dedication to carry out the NRC mission of protecting people and the environment by helping to ensure the safety of the two units at North Anna,” NRC Region II Administrator Cathy Haney said

Croon has worked with the NRC since 2011, beginning as a project engineer, and most recently as a resident inspector at the Oconee Nuclear Station in South Carolina. Prior to joining the NRC, Croon served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and as a resident engineer in Iraq.

All nuclear plants operating in the U.S. are assigned a minimum of two NRC resident inspectors. Croon joins Resident Inspector Gwynne Eatmon at the North Anna facility. Inspectors act as a liaison between the facility, the NRC and surrounding communities. They are tasked with carrying out inspection and monitoring activity.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in nuclear engineering from the University of Illinois, and a master’s degree from the Air Force Institute of Technology. Croon also has a law degree from the University of Louisville.
