Bloomberg BNA will be joining Nuclear Matters in hosting the “A Chain Reaction: The Role of Nuclear Energy in New England’s Energy Mix” on June 24.

The session will begin at 8:30 a.m. ET at the Westin Boston Copley Place; they will discuss a number of topics relating to nuclear energy in the region.

“We are pleased to be partnering with Bloomberg to continue a dialogue about the benefits of nuclear energy and the need to preserve existing nuclear energy plants in New England and across the country,” former Sen. Judd Gregg, Nuclear Matters co-chair, said. “New England’s nuclear energy plants bring significant benefits to the region, including reliable, carbon-free energy and jobs and economic growth. I look forward to continuing to raise awareness, in part through events like this, of the need to ensure that nuclear energy is properly valued as a reliable, affordable and carbon-free electricity resource that is essential to America’s energy future and diverse fuel mix.”

Topics that will be discussed in the session include new technological advances, industry challenges in the region, pending legislation and its impact and how nuclear energy compliments clean energy initiatives in the area.

The featured speaker is Principle Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Office of Nuclear Energy within the Department of Energy John Kotek. Other speakers will be present that will represent policy and industry experts from companies and institutions, including Entergy Wholesale Commodities, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Nuclear Fuel Cycle Project and Terrestrial Energy Inc.
