Peninsula Energy announced Monday that it has appointed Harrison Barker as a non-executive director to its Board of Directors.

Previously, Barker served as a senior manager with Dominion Resources where he had worked in their Nuclear Fuel Procurement as the manager since 1992.

“(Barker) is a valued addition to the Board, bringing an extensive understanding of the U.S. nuclear power generation fuel supply requirements,” Peninsula CEO John Simpson said. “(His) knowledge and connections with U.S. nuclear utilities will assist the company in its goal to directly partner with them as a dependable, efficient, long-term supplier of uranium fuel.”

Barker has also served as chairman of the Nuclear Energy Institute’s Utility Fuel Committee, has been a part of the Advisory Board to American Uranium Corp., and worked in the World Nuclear Fuel Market Trade Association. He holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and a master’s degree in nuclear engineering science from the University of Florida.

Barker has had experience in evaluation, negotiation, solicitation and the administration of nuclear fuel contracts that included spent fuel disposal with the U.S. Department of Energy. He has also worked in areas related to regulatory reporting, strategic planning, budgeting and investment management.
