AZZ Inc. has been awarded a contract by the Comisión Federal de Electricidad (CFE) of Mexico to refurbish steam isolation valves, the company announced on Thursday.

“This award is indicative of AZZ’s ability to provide specialty repair solutions to our international customer base, thereby allowing them to extend component lifetimes with high quality and safe performance,” AZZ Vice President and General Manager Gary Hill said. “We are grateful for the trust that CFE has placed in AZZ for this important project.”

Under this contract, AZZ will be focusing on valve refurbishment at the Laguna Verde Nuclear Power Plant near Veracruz, Mexico. Valve repair services will begin at the firs Laguna Verde unit in 2015 as it is brought offline for regular maintenance and other activity and work is anticipated to continue through the spring of 2016. This contract is approximately $15 million.

CFE is a state owned company that is responsible for the generation, distribution and marketing of electricity to approximately 36.1 million people. The company has approximately 52,854 megawatts of electrical capacity over its entire generation fleet.

AZZ offers welding and galvanizing services and supplies specialty electrical equipment to those operating in power generation, transmission and industrial work.
