AREVA Inc. announced on Tuesday that they will be presenting documents explaining the reorganization of AREVA and AREVA NP to two labor organizations.

The company announced the reaching of an agreement between the Comités d’établissement (CE), the Works Committee and the Comité Central d’Entreprise (CCE), the Central Works Council and two other labor organizations on Monday.

Within the presentations, the company will be detailing its planned workforce reduction so that competitiveness plans can be fulfilled for the two entities. Reductions would consist of 2,700 positions in France by 2017, with an end target between 3,000 and 4,000 positions. This is the result of a refocusing of two business plans, for a refreshed AREVA that would be focused on the nuclear fuel cycle and AREVA NP that will focus on the nuclear steam supply systems manufacturing and equipment, fuel and services provider. EDF is set to be the latter entity’s majority shareholder.

Overall, six entities are involved in the restructuring of the company, including AREVA Business Support, AREVA NC, AREVA Mines, EURODIF and SET.

The company states that plans will continue forward with intent to keep open communication between employees and their representatives and the maintenance of the company’s industrial skill base.
