AMETEK Solidstate Controls Inc. launched its new Nuclear Digital Process Power (NDPP) microprocessor system this week.

The company said the system offers electromagnetic interference (EMI) suppression, high-temperature rise transformers and the capability to block external communication capability. The NDPP is part of the company’s uninterruptible-supplies (UPS) offerings.

“The new NDPP microprocessor design incorporates full software/hardware verification and validation, as required by NRC standards,” AMETEK Marketing Manager John Ely said. “The proven reliability and durability of SCI’s NDPP 1E product line, along with the new NDPP’s advanced data-logging capabilities, allow facility operators to review power events in real time — a critical factor for maintaining the safe operation of a nuclear facility.”

Ely said approximately 75 percent of nuclear facilities currently in operation in the U.S. use UPS systems from AMETEK and that the company has been working as a consultant and supplier for nuclear generation for approximately 40 years.

This microprocessing system has been approved by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and has been found to be in line with the Code of Federal Regulations Title 10, Part 50.

The company is focused in the development and manufacturing of UPS systems in the energy and petrochemical processing industry.
