Westinghouse Electric Co. said this week that it was hired to provide refueling outage and inspection services for Tennessee Valley Authority's Watts Bar and Sequoyah Nuclear Power Plants.

“We are pleased to deliver outage services to TVA and help them to continue providing safe, clean, reliable and economic energy to those served in the Tennessee Valley,” Mark Marano, Westinghouse's president for the Americas Region, said. “This contract builds upon a long working relationship between TVA and Westinghouse. Most recently, Westinghouse successfully completed initial core fuel load and currently is assisting in the start-up and testing of Watts Bar Unit 2. We look forward to continuing our strong relationship with TVA for years to come.”

The $75 million contract calls for outage maintenance and inspection services between 2016 and 2021.

Services will include changing fuel assemblies and inspecting the various systems at each facility.
