Todd Allen has been selected to serve as a senior visiting fellow with nuclear-energy advocacy group Third Way, providing technical support for the group's efforts in advancing nuclear technology, Third Way said this week.

Third Way is currently working to boost private-sector investment in emerging technologies within the energy industry. In this regard, the group has been working with Idaho National Laboratory (INL) and other Department of Energy national labs to facilitate growth in innovation and commercialization.

Allen previously served as deputy lab director of science and technology at INL and will be focusing on supporting measures to add stability and predictability of government solutions relating to the energy sector for Third Way.

“With university and national laboratory experience, and as part of INL’s efforts to collaborate with nongovernmental organizations who support the Gateway for Accelerated Innovation in Nuclear (GAIN) and other (advanced) nuclear projects, I look forward to collaborating with Third Way to help improve nuclear innovation in the United States, both in the federal government and the private sector,” Allen said.

Allen holds a doctorate in nuclear engineering, with his research focusing on the effects that radiation has on metals and their properties.
