AREVA to supply uranium for four Ukrainian nuclear power plants

AREVA said on Friday that it has signed a contract to supply Ukraine-based utility ENERGOATOM with enriched uranium for use in local nuclear power plants.

This is AREVA’s first enriched-uranium contract with ENERGOATOM, which operates four state-owned nuclear power plants. AREVA will deliver the first batches of uranium later this year.

“AREVA is delighted that ENERGOATOM has entrusted our group with this key component of their nuclear fuel procurement,” Olivier Wantz, head of AREVA's front-end business group, said. “This contract demonstrates our capacity to win the confidence of new customers.”
