Exelon says Maryland nuclear plant back on line after April 7 shutdown

Exelon said last week that its Calvert Cliffs nuclear power plant has been restored to full power after the plant’s two units were shut down on April 7 due to an issue with an offsite grid, disrupting power in the Washington, D.C. and Maryland area.

After pinpointing the problem, plant operators performed a series of inspections and tests before bringing the plant back on line.

Calvert Cliffs, Maryland’s only nuclear energy facility, is on the western shore of the Chesapeake Bay in Calvert County.
