FirstEnergy does preventive maintenance on plants for summer

FirstEnergy Corp. said on Monday that comprehensive preventive maintenance work has been completed on its coal, nuclear and natural gas generation stations in Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia to ensure smooth summer operations. The tasks included inspecting and making necessary repairs on ventilation and cooling systems for the warmer-weather months. FERC clears Duke Energy deal with Dynegy

Duke Energy recently said the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has approved the sale of its nonregulated Midwest commercial generation business to Dynegy.  After the closing of the deal, Duke netted $2.8 billion, which it plans to use to improve its services to consumers and to facilitate the repurchasing of common shares.
