EDF Energy said late last week that it has named Jim Crawford to serve as project development director of the Sizewell C nuclear plant project in Suffolk, England.

Prior to this appointment, Crawford served as station director of Sizewell B, also in Suffolk.

“I have been proud to be station director of Sizewell B,” Crawford said. “The station had a record year of power production in 2015 and has saved some 126 million tons of carbon dioxide since it started operating in 1995. Sizewell C provides a great opportunity to build on this, to provide more local jobs, more contracts for U.K. businesses and more opportunities for young people in education, whilst delivering power generation for 5 million homes for 60 years.”

EDF said Paul Morton has taken Crawford’s place at Sizewell B.

Sizewell C is set to be built north of station B on the coast of Suffolk and would house two  reactors able to power the equivalent of approximately 5 million typical homes. The construction of the facility is expected to create approximately 5,600 positions -- 900 of them permanent jobs running the plant once it is completed and operational.
