Curtiss-Wright secures more China RCP contracts worth $450 million

Curtiss-Wright said this week that it has secured contracts from Harbin Electric Power Equipment Co. and Shenyang Blower Works Nuclear Pump Co. totaling approximately $450 million, mainly to supply AP1000 reactor coolant pumps (RCPs) for nuclear plants in China

“We are extremely excited to announce the receipt of these new AP1000 contracts, which mark a major milestone in Curtiss-Wright’s history and build on our legacy as a critical provider of next-generation commercial nuclear power plant technology,” David Adams, chairman and CEO of Curtiss-Wright, said. “Further, these agreements expand our long-standing relationship with our China partners and reinforce our ongoing support for China’s growing nuclear power program. Through our innovative reactor coolant pump technology, we are proud to be a significant player in building the safest and most advanced nuclear reactors in the world.”

These contracts follow a 2007 contract that the company secured to provide 16 RCPs for the Haiyang and Sanmen nuclear power plants in Shandong and Zhejiang Provinces, respectively. The first two units for the Sanmen plant were shipped in November 2015. The rest of this contract is expected to be fulfilled by the end of this year.

This recent wave of contracts also calls for 16 RCP units that will be utilized by additional nuclear plant sites that utilize the AP1000 reactor design in China.

Curtiss-Wright said the first shipment under the latest contract should be ready by 2019.
