The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) announced on Thursday that construction will be taking place near the Hiwassee River on Nov. 16 and 17.

This construction is a part of the Charleston-Athens transmission line and will be focused on where the line is planned to cross the river. The TVA said that the construction is set to take place between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. local time each day, near river mile 17.6.

The TVA warns that any watercraft operators planning to be in the area should avoid areas near construction or to take extra precaution if they must travel through the area. Safety patrol boats will be located in the area and personnel will be present to provide information. They also state that marine channels 13, 16 and 81 will be monitored by safety boats on both days.

This construction follows in line with planned improvements to several power stations across the entire service area of the TVA.

TVA’s website states that it has approximately 16,000 miles of electrical transmission lines spanning seven states. The company states that it serves approximately nine million customers through 155 local power stations across the Tennessee Valley.
