Western Uranium Corp. (WUC) has initiated the construction of their second Ablation Production Unit following the completion of the engineering designing process, the company announced on Monday.

"We are pleased to begin work on the manufacture of the second Ablation Production Unit,” WUC President and CEO George Glasier said. “Adjustments and refinements to the equipment have been made by Western to further enhance the operation of the units which will significantly advance and expand the capacity of production of economically recoverable resources at lower cut-off grades."

The International Atomic Energy Agency said that ablation is the process that is used to separate rock materials into its individual components. The process utilizes water and kinetic forces that creates fine grain material that can be physically separated in screening processes.

The company said that the unit’s construction is anticipated to be completed within the first quarter of 2016. The manufacturing of the ablation unit is taking place at the WUC facility near Nucla, Colorado. Following the unit’s completion, it will be delivered to the Sunday Mine Complex in Colorado. It is expected to enter service by the second quarter of 2016.

WUC specializes in the production of vanadium and uranium that is located within the western portion of the U.S.
