AZZ, Inc., wins contract to supply circuits to Chinese nuclear plant

AZZ, Inc., said on Friday that it has been awarded a contract by the China Nuclear Power Engineering Company (CNPEC) to provide two 550 kV circuits to the Hongyanhe Nuclear Power Plant in Liaoning Province.

The contract is worth approximately $9 million, and the equipment is expected to be delivered to the power plant by mid-2017.

"This award is representative of AZZ's ongoing commitment to serve the needs of global power generation with innovative specialty electrical equipment and services," Bill Estes,  vice president of AZZ Electrical Systems, said. "Our high-voltage bus systems provide our customers with higher carrying capacity, versatile routing options, and superior reliability and service life. We are grateful for the trust that CNPEC has placed in AZZ for this important project."

The two circuits are based off of gas-insulated lines and will be utilized by the construction of the Unit II project at the plant.

The company specializes in industrial applications for electrical operations, including galvanizing and welding services. Its focus is on the transmission and electrical generation markets.

The Chinese Nuclear Power Engineering Company is a subsidiary of the China Guangdong Nuclear Power Group. The combined capacity of the nuclear power company is approximately 17.54 million kilowatts.
