Idaho's Leadership in Nuclear Energy Commission 2.0 holds meeting

The Leadership in Nuclear Energy (LINE) Commission 2.0 of Idaho held a meeting this week in Boise, Idaho, to discuss several  issues, including the Department of Energy's updates to the Nuclear Energy Program.

The meeting agenda included U.S. Department of Energy updates to the Nuclear Energy Program, a report from the LINE 2.0 Commission’s Safety and Environment Subcommittee and a report on the Nuclear Innovation Workshop.

This version of the LINE commission was originally enacted via an executive order from Gov. C.L. Otter in March 2013. It is tasked with the implementation of recommendations that were put forward by the original LINE Commission that detailed how Idaho's nuclear industry would benefit the state's economic performance and create jobs.

During the meeting, seismologist Suzette Payne provided an update on the lab's research into earthquakes and other seismic hazards relating to the operation and safety of nuclear reactors.
