NuScale Power CEO John Hopkins named vice chairman of U.S. Chamber of Commerce

NuScale Power LLC President and CEO John Hopkins has been elected vice chairman of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the company said recently.

Hopkins, who will serve a one-year term, succeeds Michael Ducker, president and CEO of FedEx Freight.

Chamber President and CEO Thomas Donahue praised Hopkins for promoting international trade and helping open up new global markets for companies and investors.

“Hopkins has a deep understanding of two of our most pressing issues -- energy and infrastructure -- and we look forward to his leadership and expertise as we work to spur stronger economic growth and create jobs and opportunities for Americans,” Donahue said.

Hopkins has served as chief executive officer of NuScale Power since 2012. He is responsible for leading company efforts to design, license and bring to market game-changing technology for economic, scalable carbon-free nuclear technology with unprecedented safety attributes.

Prior to joining NuScale, Hopkins spent 24 years at the international engineering and construction company Fluor Corp., where he held several executive positions.

Hopkins is a member of the Nuclear Energy Institute board of directors and senior policy adviser of I Squared Capital.
